Saudi Economic Sectors Brace for 2026’s Projected Temperature Rise

by admin477351

In 2026, Saudi Arabia is bracing for a summer that promises to be hotter than usual, as indicated by the latest seasonal climate forecasts from the National Center for Meteorology. The projections suggest that temperatures across the Kingdom will surpass average levels, while precipitation is likely to remain at or below usual levels in several regions. This climate outlook is crucial for the country, which often experiences intense heat during the summer months, necessitating careful planning and adaptation.

As per the forecast for June, rainfall across the nation is expected to align closely with seasonal norms. However, a shift is anticipated in July, when regions such as Jazan, Baha, Asir, Makkah, Najran, and the Eastern Province may experience less rainfall than usual. Other areas are likely to see precipitation patterns that are consistent with typical trends. This shift in rainfall could have implications for water resources and agricultural activities, which are vital components of the Saudi economy.

Temperature elevations are expected to be particularly noticeable in June, with some areas, including Jazan, Baha, parts of Makkah and Asir, as well as Madinah, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, and Tabuk, experiencing increases of up to 1.5°C above normal levels. The rising temperatures are a critical concern, as they can impact energy consumption, public health, and overall comfort.

As the summer progresses into July and August, the heat is predicted to intensify further. During these months, Jazan, Baha, and parts of Asir and Makkah could see temperatures climbing as high as 1.6°C above the average. These regions are expected to endure some of the most extreme heat in the country this summer, underscoring the need for enhanced preparedness and resilience strategies.

In light of the anticipated weather conditions, meteorological authorities have urged citizens and various sectors to stay informed through official updates and forecasts. This vigilance is essential for ensuring adequate preparation and response to the forecasted heat, which could pose significant challenges to daily life and economic activities across Saudi Arabia.
