by admin477351

In a strategic move to enhance international connectivity, Saudi Arabia’s national airline, Saudia, has announced its plans to initiate direct flights between Riyadh and Tokyo starting in November 2026. This new route will include three weekly flights departing from Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. The initiative is part of a collaboration with the Air Connectivity Program and the Saudi Tourism Authority, aiming to strengthen travel and tourism links between the two nations.

By establishing this direct route, Saudi Arabia hopes to boost tourism, trade, and business exchanges with Japan, providing an additional international gateway that aligns with the broader objectives set out in Saudi Vision 2030. This vision, along with the National Aviation Strategy and National Tourism Strategy, aims to position Saudi Arabia as a key global hub for both tourism and logistics.

The Saudi Tourism Authority is actively working with partners in Japan to create travel packages that will entice Japanese tourists to explore Saudi Arabia. This approach is designed to complement the introduction of the new flight service and is expected to result in a significant increase in visitors from Japan.

The timing of this new flight path also coincides with the upcoming AFC Asian Cup 2027, which Saudi Arabia will host. The direct flights are expected to facilitate travel for this major sporting event, underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing its global connectivity for international events.

Currently, Saudia offers flights to over 100 destinations around the world. The airline is also in the process of expanding its fleet by 112 new aircraft, a move that supports its mission to extend its global reach and improve service offerings.
