HAKONE, JAPAN – Hotel Okura is preparing to launch a flagship property that promises to transform the Japanese luxury market. The Okura Resort Hakone Gora, the brand’s first resort in Japan, is slated to open in 2029, providing an unparalleled focus on guest privacy.
The resort’s most notable feature is that every one of its 58 rooms will include a private outdoor hot spring bath (onsen), eliminating the need for shared facilities. Each bath will be supplied with genuine thermal water from the renowned Owakudani source, available on demand.
Designed by Gwenael Nicolas under the concept of a “Forest Hideaway,” the property translates Hakone’s natural beauty into a sophisticated and tranquil retreat. Guests will also enjoy high-end teppanyaki dining and the dedicated, attentive service for which Hotel Okura is celebrated.
The opening signals a strong strategic move by Hotel Okura to attract travelers who prioritize exclusivity and calm, setting a higher standard for the region’s hot spring resorts.
