Saudi Arabia has expressed strong approval for U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent decision to prioritize diplomatic efforts in resolving tensions with Iran. This development was highlighted by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, who emphasized the Kingdom’s satisfaction with Trump’s approach to finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
In a message shared on X, Prince Faisal remarked, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia highly appreciates the US President Donald Trump’s decision to give diplomacy a chance to reach an acceptable agreement to end the war, restore the security and freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to its state prior to February 28th, 2026, and address all points of contention in a way that serves the security and stability of the region.” His statement followed Trump’s announcement that he had postponed a planned military strike on Iran, originally set for Tuesday, in favor of pursuing negotiations at the behest of Gulf state leaders.
President Trump had revealed on Truth Social that leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates had requested this diplomatic pause. The president noted that “serious negotiations are now taking place,” underscoring the regional desire to find a peaceful solution to the heightened tensions.
Prince Faisal further expressed hope that Iran would take this opportunity to de-escalate the situation and engage constructively in dialogue. He urged Iran to respond positively to diplomatic efforts aimed at crafting a comprehensive agreement that would ensure enduring peace in both the region and globally.
The Saudi foreign minister also acknowledged Pakistan’s role in mediating the conflict, highlighting the international efforts being made to bring about a resolution. The Kingdom remains optimistic that these diplomatic endeavors will lead to a stable and secure environment.
