Saudi Arabia and France are deepening their collaboration in the library sector, focusing on areas such as digital preservation, knowledge exchange, and professional training. This initiative was highlighted during a meeting in Riyadh between Abdulrahman Al-Asem, the CEO of the Saudi Libraries Commission, and Patrick Maisonnave, the French Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The discussions centered on an executive program between the Saudi Libraries Commission and the National Library of France. This program aims to digitize library materials, exchange electronic copies, and develop digital collections. Additionally, it seeks to enhance professional training, ensuring that both nations benefit from shared expertise and advancements in library sciences.

Future plans also include joint projects slated for 2026, which are designed to broaden cultural and knowledge-based cooperation between the two countries. These projects underscore a commitment to enhancing bilateral ties through shared cultural initiatives and educational exchanges.

The collaboration between Saudi Arabia and France in the library sector reflects a broader effort to harness digital technology and expertise in preserving and disseminating knowledge. By working together, the two nations aim to set a precedent for international cooperation in cultural and educational fields.
